Welcome to interAKtive!

We are an independent charity with around 150 member families, all of whom have a child (or more than one child) who is on the autism spectrum, or a child with a similar communication difficulty. Despite sharing common difficulties, each child is different, and his or her needs may range from mild to severe.

interAKtive was set up in 1994* and became a charity in September 2000. Members can pool knowledge and insight, and learn from each other. The group also provides them with the opportunity to explore experiences and activities that may previously have seemed totally impossible or inaccessible, due to their child’s difficulties. An additional plus point is that many of the events are open to siblings, so that there is shared enjoyment.

Although the focus of the charity is local, membership is not limited to any specific catchment area.
